Philtrum Pictures is based in Smithfield, Dublin City. A one stop shop for the shoot, edit & delivery of various projects including corporate, event, commercial and promotional videos. General filming & editing enquiries are always welcome. The aim at Philtrum is to bring good picture, good sound and a whole lotta heart to the screen.
Philtrum Pictures was officially founded in 2015 by writer/director Kevin O’Farrell.
‘The Philtrum is the groove above your upper lip. I was looking for a name to put as an umbrella for different projects and I guess it was right under my nose the whole time.’
Having finished a three year stint as the Festival Administrator and Marketing Assistant of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, Kevin then completed shooting a Galway Film Centre/RTE funded short ‘Looks Like Rain’, written by Ben Conway and Produced by Liam Ryan and Dave Leahy of Warrior Films. ‘Looks Like Rain’ premiered at the 27th Galway Film Fleadh. Amongst others, LLR has since played in festivals in Cork, London, Chicago and Sardinia, and was nominated for ‘Best of Festival’ and ‘Best Direction’, at the 2016 Fastnet Film Festival. It was broadcast on RTE as part of the Shortscreen programme in Jan 2017
Kevin has recently been working on a number of projects with various groups Including the Actors Studio in Bow St Academy of Screen Acting, the Young Filmmakers Academy and the Part-time Screen Acting Course, as well as a number of corporate projects. He has recently completed his latest short, ‘The Letter’, which premiered at the 28th Galway Film Fleadh
